Primary Responsibilities

The successful candidate will apply their initiative, enthusiasm, curiosity, and desire to learn/expand their existing knowledge of aviation/aerospace domain to develop analyses and papers on aviation safety oversight frameworks and models.

Some high-level duties include but are not limited to: 

  • Provide support on various projects related to conducting oversight of different processes and functions.
  • Maintain, enhance, and develop models for monitoring safety oversight performance and initiatives.
  • Conduct reviews/evaluations to identify new data/information sources that will enhance aviation safety oversight.
  • Develop and maintain metadata: definitions, business rules and contextual data for the exchange of different types of information in the aviation domain, including aeronautical, weather, flight, aerodrome mapping, etc.
  • Provide support to synthesize information gleaned from deep dives and research conducted across domestic (FAA) and international (ICAO and other Civil Aviation Authorities) guidance (policies, requirements, and standards) and initiatives into a cohesive narrative.
  • Make independent and guided contributions in the development of detailed, analytical reports, papers, and associated briefings based on the research and synthesis.
  • Provide support in presenting briefings to executive, management level, and staff level client personnel.


Required Skills

    • Strong critical thinking skills.
    • Strong oral and written communication skills, including business and technical writing.
    • Candidate with Aviation experience is a Plus. 
    • Ability to conduct research across multiple sources.
    • Ability to synthesize information gathered from multiple sources into a cohesive narrative.
    • Flexibility to pivot based on new and/or additional information gathered during research.
    • Demonstrate enthusiasm to develop knowledge in the field of aviation.
    • Ability to work independently and carry out assignments based on general supervision.
    • Demonstrate proactivity in asking questions, clarification, and guidance after exercising independent effort.
    • Demonstrate responsiveness to supervisory guidance.
    • Ability to prioritize and work effectively towards deadlines.
    • Ability to pay close attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Familiarity with and understanding of different types of data modeling, i.e., conceptual, logical and physical.
    • Working-level knowledge of UML and XML.
    • Ability to interact with a variety of individuals in a courteous and professional manner.


    Experience/Qualifications
    • 15+ years of business and/or aviation analysis experience.
    • Experience with FAA is a plus.
    • STEM degree from an accredited university.
    • Must be able to provide writing samples of your previous work.


    Education
    • Position requires BS/BA or master's degree in STEM, Computer Science, or similar discipline from an accredited university.
