Senior Business Attraction and Expansion Project Manager

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Proactively work with existing industry and new-to-market companies to grow Greater Omaha’s regional

economy via the creation of good paying jobs and capital investment. The position will build relationships with companies both within and outside the Greater Omaha region to identify projects and manage the relationship from fist contact to completed project.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


1.    Analyze the regional market and identify growth opportunities to recruit new, complementary companies from target industries and geographies to Greater Omaha. Design and implement a strategic and proactive business recruitment program that will benefit all areas of the Partnership region.

2.    Facilitate the regional sales process from initial contact, solicitation of interest, to RFI response and delivery, appropriate follow up, community and site visits, and closing of the deal. Anticipate the needs of the client and provide information in a timely and easily understood format.  Manage multiple projects at one time.

3.    Coordinate marketing activities with the Chamber’s marketing team for both digital and physical campaigns. Develop appropriate collateral materials in association with Business Intelligence and Marketing to support efforts. Support the overall annual updates to the Economic Development data templates, brochures and other collateral material.

4.    Coordinate recruitment activities with our Regional Partner counties, the Nebraska Department of Economic Development, the Iowa Economic Development Authority, the Omaha Public Power District and other allies actively involved in recruitment to extend our reach and maximize impact.

5.    Conduct BREs on a monthly basis; schedule time each week to reach out to 1-5 companies for a BRE visit.

6.    Assistance with various meetings and functions as required (greeting guests and dignitaries, preparing presentations and handouts, meeting room set-up and break-down, etc.) for Chamber/Partnership functions inside or outside the office.

7.    Conduct a Headquarters Visitation program to out-of-state headquarter locations of Greater Omaha businesses to ensure continued growth and continuity of their local operations.

8.    Establish a positive working relationship with national Site Selectors, real estate brokers, and other consultants involved in economic development through proactive reach outs and communication.

9.    Serve as the first point of contact for international partners looking to engage the Omaha business community. Communicate and articulate to regional businesses and external partners the value we can add to their strategic objectives and identify opportunities to provide assistance. Serve as the Chamber’s main point of contact for International relations involving business development and recruitment.

10.  Track and record all activity in CRM in a real-time basis following established protocol.

11.  Serve as staff lead for selected Targeted Advisory Groups (TAGs) which advise the Partnership on message and marketing for targeted business sectors as needed. Provide support and participate in other TAGs/Councils of the Partnership as needed.

12.  Manage the Chamber’s Manufacturing Council and work with the Manufacturing Council Chair to hold 3-5 meetings per year with its members. Assist in recruiting potential speakers or prospective council members who could benefit from engagement with the Council. Help champion initiatives within the manufacturing sector as needed.

13.  Perform other duties as assigned.

Starting Salary: $60,000

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.    Provide effective, professional communication in a timely manner.

2.    Demonstrate inclusive business practices by operating with quality services for all staff, all members, vendors and community partners.

3.    Demonstrate next-step thinking and accountability when performing daily business operations and tasks.

4.    Represent the organization at various Chamber, investor and community functions. Aim to attend at least (1) function per month.

 

FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY:

All expenditures require final approval of Associate Vice President, Economic Development.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and related work experience

1.    Secondary education degree in business, economic development, community development or other related field required.

2.    Minimum two years’ proven experience in economic development, community development or planning, or transferable skills required.

 

Certifications, Licenses, Designations

Valid Driver’s License

Ability to obtain valid U.S. Passport should there be an opportunity for International travel.

 

Other Skills and Qualifications

1.    Excellent oral and written communications skills required.

2.    Must be able to work independently.

3.    Flexible hours including evenings and weekends.

4.    Capacity for local and out-of-town/international travel.

5.    Knowledge of customer relations management (CRM) data base, WORD, PowerPoint and Excel strongly preferred.

6.    Excellent attention to detail.

7.    Must be able to drive and/or provide own transportation.

 

Physical Demands

  1. Typical office environment – Frequent walking, sitting and standing. 
  2. Ability to lift, pull or push up to 15lbs to assist with department and Chamber events.
