Therapist- Manager of Internship Program
Purpose: This position is responsible for providing
orientation, clinical supervision, training, teaching, and observation
necessary for mentoring throughout a student’s internship/practicum, ensuring
that all students receive level-appropriate support to understand the intricacies
of a professional and therapeutic work environment. This position is also
responsible for maintaining a flow of communication between the Stephen Center
and all universities with affiliation agreements. This is a professional-level
position responsible for ensuring programs and services comply with applicable
federal, state and grant health related standards. Other related duties may be
assigned as needed.
Key Accountabilities:
Service Delivery
·
Interview and maintain contact
with all potential interns and their university regarding start date and all
essential information.

Provide weekly supervision of master-level
interns and provide time for undergrad students as needed to discuss/review
learning contracts. Also provide supervision with their university supervisor
as needed.
- Review and finalize all
substance abuse and dependency evaluations, weekly progress notes,
discharge summaries completed by students and provide necessary feedback.
- Responsible for
overseeing the supervision of evidence-based, quality service delivery to
individuals, psychoeducational classes and groups. Ensure interns
integrate cultural considerations into service delivery.
- Provide disciplining of
students as needed.
- Provide orientation and
on-boarding for all new interns including setting up their email, MedEZ,
Volgistics, reviewing of the Intern Manual, developing their schedule,
parking sticker, key card, background checks, etc. Also manage
off-boarding.
- Maintain program
curriculum and psychoeducational class descriptions.
- Develop semester group
schedules, maintain updates for the Intern Manual, maintain the Intern
Calendar, obtain and update Affiliation Agreements with universities,
develop and maintain job descriptions for all levels of internship
(undergrad and graduate), and make sure there is coverage when interns are
out of office or on break.
- Responsible for mid-term,
end of term reviews, and all necessary paperwork for all students.
- Responsible for following
agency policies and procedures and that all students follow agency policy
and procedures.
- Provide on-call services
on a rotational basis as required by program for after hour client
emergencies.

Provide direct service, back-up and on-call crisis assistance as needed.

Client direct contact may include, but is not limited to, staffing
clients, addressing client complaints, ensuring clients are notified of rules
and regulations, as well as enforcing the house rules, supervision of all
clinical programming and sessions, provision of counseling/therapy services, as
needed.
Interpersonal Relationships
- Works closely with the
Community Engagement Manager at the Stephen Center regarding the need of
interns between the different programs within the Stephen Center (Shelter,
PSH, HERO) and also regarding marketing the Stephen Center with
universities.
- Responsible for the
promotion of agency services through community contacts and appropriate
related workshops and classes.
- Maintain a positive and
respectful demeanour on all contacts with staff and the public.
- Seek needed guidance in
handling difficult client situations and establishing priorities for the
job.
- Work to build positive,
productive relationships with other staff.
- Other duties as assigned.
Record Keeping
- Maintain and teach timely
and legible records of services provided per established program, agency,
state and CARF standards; including but not limited to chemical dependency
evaluations, client assessments, treatment plans, and discharge.
- Maintain and teach client
progress reporting documents required by area courts and systems,
accreditation standards, and internal policies and procedures.
- Timely completion of any
provider enrolment forms and reports needed to maximize third party
reimbursement.
- Ensure services have
prior authorization, are billable and coded properly.
Professional Growth and Development

Participate in supervision
meetings as needed for the purpose of reviewing cases, discussing treatment
strategy and monitoring client progress.
- Continue personal and
professional growth and development through reading, research, workshops,
seminars, and other strategies which will broaden knowledge on therapeutic
approaches and techniques and support the maintenance of the mental health
practitioner’s license.
- Participate in agency
required training.
Professionalism and Confidentiality
- Keep all client names and
information and other agency business confidential.
- Guard client
confidentiality in waiting areas, during phone contact, and in handling of
records.
- Ensure that all office
and record security procedures are followed.
Position
Requirements:
- Master’s Degree in Human
Service field from an accredited college.
- Minimum of Licensed Independent
Mental Health Practitioner (LIMHP) in the state of Nebraska. Licenced
Alcohol and Drug Counselor certification (LADC) preferred, but not
required.
- Ability to recognize,
assess, and determine treatment needs for dual diagnosed clientele.
- Excellent written and
verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work
independently with minimal supervision, with responsibility to exercise substantial
discretion and independent judgement.
