Support Specialist II, Certification

SYNOPSIS:

This position requires organizational skills, computer skills and customer service skills.  Responsibilities and associated

duties are of a confidential nature.  This position will assist the Certification Director and Certification Department in

providing services to students and graduates of the Alabama Fire College and provides support services to other AFC

employees.  


This position is a non-exempt, full-time benefited position with a salary range of $32,966 ($15.85/hr) - $48,728 ($23.43/hr) based on

experience and qualifications.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Creates correspondence and reports applicable to the duties of the position
  • Assists in verifying Fire Fighter employment data is collected and processed in accordance with State policy and procedures
  • Enter Fire Fighter employment data into the certification database
  • Assists with data entry related to Fire Fighter car tags
  • Assists with processing all aspects of certification exams and processes
  • Assists with processing all aspects of the course evaluation processes
  • Process reports daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly
  • Process incoming and outgoing correspondence
  • Maintain filing systems using standard records management systems
  • Receives calls and visitors in accordance to office policies and procedures
  • Orders and maintains supplies needed for assigned responsibilities
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Maintains confidentiality and security
  • Actively and creatively participate in assigned committees and special projects


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proficiency in Micorosoft Office required
  • Associates Degree or five years experience working in a state or provincial fire service training system preferred
  • Ability to work with a database preferred
  • Experience in editing/proofreading preferred
