Community Resource Coordinator

Stephen Center has served homeless and low-income individuals in Omaha since 1984 with the mission to partner with the community, families and individuals to overcome homelessness, addiction and poverty.  The Pettigrew Emergency Shelter and Permanent Supportive Housing offerings provide safe and secure housing while individuals and families complete an assessment of permanent housing options. All Stephen Center residents have access to dual diagnosis support services via the HERO addiction/recovery program. 100% of Stephen Center shelter supportive housing participants are living in poverty.  Housing transition support identifies poverty barriers that may impact one’s ability to achieve or maintain permanent housing through case management, life skills, and behavioral health services. Stephen Center serves approximately 250 people daily in all programs.

Purpose:

Stephen Center, Inc. is dedicated to serving our neighbors in need. The emphasis of this position is in Community Resources including in-kind donations, volunteers, as well as fund-raising events.

All who come to the donations center are welcomed with dignity and respect. The donations are used to support Stephen Center programs with the mission of partnering with the community, families and individuals to overcome homelessness, addiction and poverty.

 

Key Accountabilities:

 

·         Manage all in-kind donations and oversee the storage and distribution of these gifts.

·         Record donations, tracking and thanking donors who provide in-kind donations.

·         Coordinate with programs to see what the major needs are.

·         Communicate needs to Development to leverage partnerships and communication.

·         Maintain adequate communication with volunteers in regard to scheduling, training needs, change in process and procedures and any other information necessary to their positions.

·         Schedules donation pick-ups and employee schedules, and actively promotes Stephen Center’s mission to the community.

·         Oversee upkeep and cleanliness of dock area, storage area and vehicles.

·         Assists with information requests about agency services from students, volunteers, and other groups.

·         Participate in the education of the community, volunteers, service providers, and other interested parties with respect to client services and programs.

·         Assist in identifying community partners that will support Stephen Center.

·         Meet as appropriate with community organizations to ensure a strong relationship is maintained.

·         Attend staff meetings and training workshops as needed.

·         Hands-on position with supervisory responsibility of dedicated and creative staff and volunteers.

·         Perform ad hoc projects as appointed by supervisor.

·         Other duties as assigned.

 

Position Requirements:

·         Possess and maintain valid driver’s license.

·         High school diploma or GED preferred

·         Walking – Full Shift

·         Standing – Full Shift

·         Kneeling – Periodically

·         Climbing – To enter and egress large vehicles to retrieve donations

·         Pushing/pulling– Periodically

·         Repetitive lifting –25+ pounds

·         Conducts self in a manner of professionalism that is conducive to recovery from mental illness, co-occurring disorders and overall wellness, including a minimum of one year of continuous sobriety if in recovery, from the substance for which you are in recovery.

·         Abides by all specific program and Agency procedures, policies, and requirements.

·         An authentic and honest employee plays a key role in the client’s recovery. Often, an employee will inadvertently become a role model for the client, regardless of whether an employee has direct contact with clients on a daily basis.  Therefore, Stephen Center employees will conduct themselves with honesty and integrity.
