EMS Clinical Coordinator

This position is responsible for the clinical aspects of the various EMS classes to ensure that each student has the appropriate educational, clinical and field experience.  The EMS Clinical Coordinator is responsible for all aspects of the EMS student's clinical/field education program.  This person communicates with EMS agencies/hospitals, and other clinical sites to place students in clinical and field rotations.  The EMS Clinical Coordinator monitors compliance with requirements of students and manages the clinical contract process.

  • Licensed, currently credentialed State of Alabama EMT/Paramedic preferred.
  • Associate's degree in EMS related field or Bachelor's Degree in health-related field from an accredited institution preferred.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS


  • Responsible for ensuring clinical competency, clinical/field rotation, scheduling and monitoring of the EMS Training Program students' clinical/field internship.
  • Responsible for the coordination of Clinical and Field site visits and evaluation.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise field preceptors.
  • Responsible for QI/QA and grading of student clinical reports.
  • Responsible for preceptor orientation, training, supervision, communication and evaluation (clinical, field and capstone).
  • Responsible for student compliance with immunizations, insurance, physical, etc.
  • Responsible for making sure all EMS students complete minimum competencies prior to course completion.
  • Maintain the currency of clinical affiliate agreements/contracts.
  • Develop, with other program faculty and appropriate administration, program level competencies that outline expected student learning outcomes.
  • Functions as the program's liaison to clinical rotation sites.
  • Prepares and maintains various records, reports and files.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.


OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Responsible for class and laboratory preparation and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
  • Prepare, present and track laboratory skills instructional experiences.
  • Participate in curriculum development and evaluation and recommends new or revised curriculum.
  • Report student progress in mastering established learning outcomes based on identified and approved assessments.
  • Provide timely and accurate reports including grade reports and other required reports related to instruction.
  • Participate in the Alabama Fire College's registration and orientation sessions as assigned.
  • provide academic advising to students.
  • Work collaboratively with other Sections, Units and Divisions to ensure health, safety and welfare of students, staff and visitors (may have to take vital signs during recruit school, evaluate and provide triage, treatment and transport of patients, etc.).
  • Serve on Alabama Fire College committees as assigned to expedite AFC business and to be involved in the decision-making process of the college.
  • Serve on local, state, regional and/or national committees upon request and/or approval from the administration.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS


  • Prolong periods of standing and/or walking.
  • Prolong periods of lifting, handling, carrying, pushing, pulling and balancing.
  • Prolong periods of twisting, turning, kneeling, bending and reaching.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.


FLSA AND EMPLOYMENT STATUS:


This position is an exempt, 75%-full time, benefitted position.


SALARY:


Range of Schedule E25, Grade 02, $50,680 to $68,169 per year based on experience and qualifications.
