Responsibilities:
Grant Writing & Research
- Proposal Development: Serve as the lead
grant writer, crafting high-quality proposals that reflect Stephen Center’s
goals, strategies, and impact.
- Research: Proactively identify and
research potential public and private funding opportunities at the local,
state, and national levels.
- Collaborative Input: Work closely with
the CPO, CFO, and program/department heads to gather accurate programmatic and
financial information to support strong applications.
- Narrative Alignment: Ensure that all
proposals align with organizational strategy and communicate Stephen Center’s
impact clearly and effectively.
Grants Calendar & Tracking
- Calendar Management: Maintain a
detailed calendar of grant application deadlines, reporting requirements, and
renewal dates.
- Internal Coordination: Create and
manage internal timelines for review and approval of all submissions,
ensuring deadlines are met.
- Database Maintenance: Maintain accurate
records of grant submissions, awards, denials, and pending applications
within the development database or shared system.
Grant Reporting
- Funder Reporting: In coordination with
the CPO and CFO, develop and submit timely, accurate reports to funders,
including narrative, data, and financial components.
- Compliance: Ensure that all reporting
meets funder expectations and contractual obligations.
Interdepartmental Collaboration
- Program & Finance Liaison: Serve as a
bridge between the development, program, and finance teams to ensure funding
requests and reports are comprehensive and reflective of current program
delivery and budget realities.
- Project Updates: Attend internal planning
or evaluation meetings as needed to stay current on program progress and
outcomes for reporting purposes.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in public
administration, nonprofit management, social work, communications, or a related
field preferred.
- Experience:
• Demonstrated success in grant
writing, preferably in a nonprofit or social services setting.
• Experience collaborating across
departments to gather information for applications and reports.
• Familiarity with local funders and/or
national social services-focused foundations is a plus.
- Skills:
• Excellent writing, editing, and
organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects
simultaneously and meet deadlines.
• Competency with Microsoft Office
(especially Excel) and donor/grant tracking databases.
- Other Requirements:
• Valid driver’s license and reliable
transportation.
• Flexibility to work occasional
evenings or weekends, as required by funding deadlines or organizational events.
