Apprentice HVAC Installer

Position Summary

The Apprentice HVAC Installer supports journeymen and foremen in the installation of commercial HVAC equipment and related mechanical systems. This role focuses on learning safe work practices, proper installation methods, and jobsite professionalism while completing assigned tasks accurately.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with installation of commercial HVAC systems (RTUs, split systems, ductwork, vents, curbs, supports, piping, drains)

  • Carry, stage, and organize tools and materials; keep work areas clean and safe

  • Help with setting up equipment, rooftop work, and rigging activities under supervision

  • Measure, cut, and assemble duct and piping components as directed

  • Install hangers, supports, and basic hardware per instructions and company standards

  • Seal, insulate, and strap ductwork and piping as directed

  • Learn to read basic prints, layouts, and equipment instructions; ask questions when unsure

  • Follow all safety rules (PPE, ladders, lifts, fall protection) and participate in safety meetings

  • Complete daily job updates as required (photos, material tracking, punch items)

  • Maintain and care for company tools; report damaged/missing equipment

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED (or equivalent)

  • Strong work ethic, dependable attendance, and willingness to learn

  • Ability to use basic hand and power tools (or willingness to learn)

  • Ability to follow directions and work well with a team

  • Valid driver’s license (preferred if driving company vehicles is required)

  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs, climb ladders, and work at heights/rooftops

Preferred Qualifications

  • Enrollment in a trade school or apprenticeship program

  • Basic mechanical aptitude and construction/jobsite experience

  • OSHA 10 (or willingness to obtain)

  • EPA 608 (or willingness to obtain)

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

  • Work outdoors and indoors in varying conditions

  • Frequent standing, bending, climbing, and overhead work

  • Rooftop work and use of ladders, lifts, and power tools

Reports to: Project Manager (as assigned)
